Intensive Therapy

Tiny Humans, Big Achievements
Intensive Therapy in Vancouver for All Children
Intensive Therapy is a growing approach for children with neurological and genetic conditions, such as cerebral palsy. Over the past two decades, there has been a shift toward intensive therapy and away from traditional models, as research continues to show its effectiveness. Unlike standard therapy, intensive therapy increases the frequency and intensity of sessions, helping children make faster and more significant progress in their movement skills.

How it works
Intensive Therapy is typically booked in 5-day blocks (Monday to Friday), with a minimum of 10 hours per block (2 hours per day). Depending on the child’s age and endurance, sessions can be extended to up to 4 hours per day.
For the best results, we recommend that children participate in intensives at least once per quarter, with each block lasting at least two weeks if possible.
Who is a Good Candidate
Intensive Therapy is beneficial for children with neurological and genetic conditions who need extra support to build strength, coordination, and mobility. Each program is designed to meet the child’s individual needs, helping them achieve new skills and improve their quality of life.

Key Benefits of Intensive Therapy
Accelerated progress through repetition
Intensive Therapy offers high frequeny of therapy sessions, that speed up the development of motor skills, helping children make faster improvements in coordination and strength.
Promoting neuroplasticity
Intensive Therapy stimulates the brain’s ability to form new neural connections, enhancing the brain-body link needed for better movement, posture, and balance. The more a task is pracitced, the more efficient the brain becomes at performing it.
Benefits Beyond Therapy
Neuroplastic changes gained through Intensive Therapy translate to improvements in daily life, allowing children to move more independently and confidently in various settings, from play to social interaction.
Maximizing Brain Development
The earlier therapy starts, the more adaptable the brain is, making it easier to form new neural connections and improve motor skills. Early intervention takes full advantage of this critical period for brain development, setting a strong foundation for better movement as the child grows.
Testimonials
Kind Words from parents
“Chelsea has been an incredible physiotherapist for our daughter, Neema. From the very beginning, she took the time to truly connect with Neema, understanding when to make sessions playful and when to challenge her to reach new milestones. Thanks to Chelsea’s patience, skill, and warm approach, Neema has gained so much strength and confidence – but most importantly, she now enjoys physio! There was a time when she would cry and disengage, but now, physio has become one of the best parts of her day (second only to school!). We are so grateful for Chelsea’s dedication and the joy she has brought to Neema’s journey.”
